Vacation cards: Evacuees - Lucy Lard, Nancy Nitwit, Polly Puffer, Bertie Butter, Charlie Chuck, Danny Duck, Eddy Earwig, Georgie Guggle, Herby Howler.

In 1939 the government feared the prospect of German bombing if Britain went to war. This prompted the officially organised, but voluntary, evacuation of children, mothers with infants and the infirm from British towns and cities. The first wave of evacuations began on 1 September 1939, two days before Britain declared war on Germany. Vacuation the game uses an abbreviation of Evacuation, without an apostrophe. It was published anonymously but registered to Castell Brothers in December 1939 Pepys, The Story of The Company and its Games 4th Ed.,p9. by Rex Pitts.
